Azelaic Acid

What is it for:

Azelaic Acid helps to even skin tone, reduce the appearance of blemishes and brighten your complexion; a dermatologist’s favourite with its multiple benefits for clear skin.

When to use:

AM or PM – daily

Active ingredient benefits:

Decongests Pores

 -  Helps to breakdown matter such as excess oils and dirt within your pores  

 Antioxidant 

-   Helps to protect your skin barrier by reducing oxidative stress caused by pollutants and other environmental stressors. 

 A Tyrosinase Inhibitor 

-   Diminishes post breakout blemishes to even the skin, for a brighter complexion 

Ingredient origin:

Found in grains such as Wheat, Barley and Rye, but our source is Sunflowers

Works well with:        

BHAs e.g. Salicylic Acid/ Niacinamide/ Vitamin C/AHAs e.g., Glycolic Acid (look for products with lower inclusion percentages)

Time to see results:

After 8-12 weeks of consistent use, you should start to see the benefits of Azelaic Acid, but this can vary from person to person

Impact on sun sensitivity:

Azelaic Acid is very unlikely to make your skin more susceptible to sun damage, making the active ingredient safe for morning use. However, we would still advise applying an SPF every day to protect your skin from UV damage and avoid potentially undoing the positive effects of your Clear Skin journey.
