Katie Parker & The Elements - Welcome

KTP Elements
Katie Parker & The Elements are a talented and energetic five-piece rock band hailing from Cambridge, UK. With their classic guitar-driven riffs, strong lyrics and enthusiasm fused against a backdrop of modern commercial sensibility, stylistic awareness and good old melodic hook lines, The Elements seek to spearhead a return to the halcyon days when British rock music was the envy of the musical world.

Since 2006, The Elements have slowly garnered interest from industry and public alike, culminating in 2007 with their selection from over 100 entrants for the final of Capital FM's competition to find a support act for Ghost, sadly losing out to indie hopefuls Trail by a number of votes that could be counted on one hand.

Other established acts have kindly shared their appreciation of the band, including hip-hop maestros Gym Class Heroes whose drummer Matt McGinley suggested The Elements, "sound[s] like Janis Joplin with rock 'n' roll. Janis Joplin meets Jet or something. It feels believable," whereas vocalist Travis "Schleprok" McCoy says, "I want her number. You can really feel the throatiness."

Indie rockers Dirty Pretty Things accurately observe The Elements represent "a return to good old-fashioned '70s riff-addled rock - the singer really goes for it."

A review of the band's recent live performance at the Hope & Anchor, Islington by Neon Promotions in September 2007 stated the "band play a tuneful set that has quite a rock edge to it - while some songs are light and commercially-flavoured others lean more towards heavier rock tones, the overall impression being something like Cardigans/Divinyls."

In particular, the reviewer praised The Elements', "uncluttered sound for the most part with bass and drums being tight and well-controlled, but a few wilder moments see tamborines bongos and some great lead guitar solos that even Slash wouldn't be ashamed of. The vocal is a treat too - husky, strong and reaching some pleasing rock tones. Subtle but explosive."

But don't take their word for it, check out the band for yourself.
