Al will be proud because I am cycling to college every day: Only 10 miles there and back but it keeps me fit enough to play guitar! Martin will have severe symptoms of depression when he finds out the cost of the Hills Road gym for the year ( Ill give you a clue - About the cost of 10 litres of petrol for your Lotus you so want!) Our form tutor has told everyone to stay well away from pubs at all costs until we are 18 because they are not suitable for students. I just sat there quietly laughing at this order when I am going to be living in them with all the gigs! I wowed the music tech. guy with my knowledge of their recording desk which had a striking resemblance to ours - Thanks Martin) Thanks for leaving everyone with that worrying thought about you in a thong Martin...
In an unprecedented turn of events, I have signed up for a gym. I've been mooting it for a while and I went a few times to my local one with some friends and enjoyed it - especially the sauna/pool/steam room. There's something distinctly decadent about saunas, etc..
So I went for broke - literally. It's not cheap as I'm paying for joint membership with the all-new Mrs P, but if I divvy up my half of the monthly subscription against how much I spend on smoking, it's actually less. So this shall replace the cost of the other. Honest! Well, if I don't, my promise [read: threat to the missus] of getting a Lotus early next year will go out of the window as I certainly can't afford all three. I've even already booked an appointment with the fitness instructor for Tuesday to sort out my regime; the main idea being how to ditch the gut that is slowly but surely showing signs of forming. I'm certainly not out of shape, but it will get that way if I don't do something about it. I want the physique I had when I was a professional drummer back in those heady days when I didn't have to exercise, just play. Being sat on my fat arse programming computers really doesn't exert that much energy...
I literally drive past the gym front door every day on the way home from work which is why I've signed up to it on the grounds that it's not inconvenient so I can pop in on a more regular basis than I probably normally would if I had to make the effort. I'm strangely looking forward to it. Of course, I'm not going to achieve the heady heights of Katie's almost-daily gym attendance. I like beer too much for that...
Incidentally, contrary to Katie's suggestion on the way back from the last gig we did, I don't think I'm going to, "get ripped and then do a gig wearing a thong."
Not just yet, anyway...

BTW
This is a little note to our 16year wonderlad guitarist, 'bout time you stuck yer oar in in the diary young man... (note: smarty pants Alex got 10 straight A+'s in his exams, jeeezzzz I remember the days when Guitarists were almost as thick as drummers, no offence Martin... there's a fair few jokes about Bass players in that vein also) nuff said.

Honeymoon
Well, it rocked. Two weeks in the US with unlimited use of my brother's cars (he lives in Boston) and a 1500-mile road-trip to Niagara and back, it's been great. Niagara Falls rocks. No really, it rocks - 34 million [US] gallons-per-minute rocks. It might be a couple of waterfalls, but they're big waterfalls. Here's the view from our hotel room (the Fallsview Sheraton, in case you're interested).
Anyway, normality has returned. A last-minute gig in London on the previous Saturday (no really, it was very last-minute) and buying a new car (the missus' car got condemned by the MOT) and it's back to work tomorrow. Real-life sucks. Someone make us famous.

Hitched
I leave in one hours' time to get hitched. Well the first one at the registry office. The official ceremony is on Monday. If the site goes down between now and Tuesday morning, erm..., tough.

New Song Progress
The new songs are coming along nicely. Alex popped in yesterday in between coming back from Montenegro and legging it to France to lay down the guitar tracks. Impressively, he got all the songs done, apart from the lead lines on Crash & Burn and he wants another crack at Secret Agent's solo again. Katie has also put down the main vocal line to Secret Agent.
We're bang on schedule for mixdown on the weekend of the 15th July.

Mobiletastic
Well I've sorted out the mobile area now. The music links work and the rest of the content is now up-to-date, although I can't tell if anyone reads it as the internal site monitoring has gone up the spout telling enormous whoppers about visitor numbers and most mobile devices don't support javascript very well, so Google Analytics don't seem to pick it up either. Ho hum. Really interesting, eh? I do sometimes wonder whether I'm just typing to myself here. Come on, I can't be the only person in the band who can use a keyboard.

New Songs
Crash & Burn and Lying Game now have drums and are sounding good (but I would say that). We managed to cram in setting up the drums, miking them up and recording the two tracks into yesterday evening, although my middle tom just wasn't playing ball on the tuning front. Fortunately Secret Agent already had the drums done and Katie wouldn't let me re-record them so I can't claim getting three songs done in an evening. This evening it's bass, after cramming in drum tracks for three cover songs that I'm overdubbing for another band, then tomorrow will be Secret Agent's acoustic rhythm track followed by handing over the toys to Katie to do her vocals. We should be all spangly finished ready for when Alex returns from Montenegro.
If we manage to complete these songs within the two weeks we've scheduled, it'll be a world record for us. Although given that the last set of songs took 5 months, that's hardly difficult.
